Contenders young and old cleared the way leaving only John Bonetti to disturb the two ex-World Champions. Bonetti, recently "made-up" into the Seniors Hall of Fame, had to be content with third. That left a battle royale for Scotty's 4th or Phil's record 8th Bracelet. Other than his World title, Scotty's previous victories were in Omaha and Omaha HiLo, so Phil knew the opposition was tough. Nevertheless he had Nguyen almost out with only enough chips to cover three big blinds. Scotty fought back to delay Hellmuth's crowning a little longer.The Final started |
