Sporting Index was formed in April 1992 to specialise in sports spread betting. Sporting Index is regulated by the Financial Services Authority (FSA). In 2000 Sporting Index launched the first truly interactive sports spread betting website, www.sportingindex.com, and we now take 70% of all bets online. In August 2004 Sporting Index launched the world’s first spread betting games, enabling clients to bet on a number of virtual markets (without having to any software). With a "Play for Fun" option also available, it’s a perfect way to learn about sports spread betting.
Slick operation and clear functional design are the positive attributes of this website. There are copies help notes for those wishing to find the exact rules of market or index on offer.
When opening and you get the choice of the Classic with all the risks of regular spread betting or a Sporting Shield which offers you all the thrills of an ordinary spread bet with the added security of limited exposure. For convenience, Shield holders can arrange for their s to be Switch-managed, meaning balances can be settled automatically on a weekly basis, through your switch .
They seem to have the intention of providing the customer with something they are happy to come back to. There are literally hundreds of different markets to interest the punter so if you know about something in detail this could be your opportunity to capitalise. (Always evaluate the markets with considered opinion, not knee-jerk bets.)
The Downside
The operation of the site hasn't thrown up any quirks that we don't like. Our only negative is that the spreads can be a bit strong in some cases, that means its difficult to find value but from time to time we do have a bet with them.
